The main goal of these creative movement/pre-ballet classes is a positive and fun introduction to dance. Incorporating images from nature and the children's world, we explore different rhythms and how the body moves through space. Structured as a traditional dance class, we start by warming up on the floor, stand for stationary steps and then move with more flow as we circle the room, exploring rhythm and the different qualities of movement. We end with big movements across the floor and, oftentimes, a dramatic dance game. In the younger classes, ballet steps and terminology are introduced in a low key and accessible manner.
In the older classes, students are introduced to the traditional ballet class format. Learning both ballet terminology and steps, with barre and center work, the aim continues to be a positive and fun experience with dance.
