About The Director

Jessica Sloane has been teaching dance to children and adults for over 25 years. She began studying ballet as a child in Washington, DC and continued her training at the University of Michigan. Returning to the DC area for graduate school, she danced with local modern dance companies and had the opportunity to perform in the mid Atlantic region, as well as Mexico and Russia.

After hearing so many adults remember their early ballet classes as unpleasant experiences, Jessica sought to provide young dancers with a positive introduction to dance. This was the foundation when creating the program and continues to be the primary focus. Young dancers learn the format and flow of a traditional dance class and are introduced to ballet steps and terminology as they progress.  At the same time, the main goal is always to ensure that each dancer is having fun, hopefully cultivating a lifelong love of dance.

Jessica is also a Pilates Instructor with certifications through Power Pilates and The Physical Mind Institute. She teaches at Willow Street Yoga and St Mark’s Dance Studio.
